Ang Thong National Marine Park
Ang Thong Marine Park is just off the West cost of Samui and is a wonderful day trip. The boats going there range from big tour boats, smaller private boats or even long tails. When there you can relax on the beach, hike to the view point overlooking the Hong (internal lake), kayak around the beaches or snorkel on the coral. It's a wonderful day trip and truly a beautiful place.
Crocodile Farm & Reptile Zoo
The crocodile farm is near to the airport and if we are honest it goes up and down in quality and popularity. Sometimes it is a little run down but they take the criticism and improve things every now and again. While the conditions may not always seem palatial, the crocodiles are at least well fed and do not appear to be abused. If you do visit and do not like the experience, be sure to give feedback so that it can improve. Do let us know too because we will stop recommending it if conditions deteriorate.
Elephant Sanctuary
We no longer recommend that you spend time at any of the elephant trekking parks because we have seen evidence of cruelty. There is an Elephant Sanctuary where you can be close to and even swim with rescued elephants if they want you too. They do not perform and can not be ridden. Some of them have already had a hard life and are enjoying their new found freedom. It is expensive but elephants cost a lot to feed.

Horse Riding On The Beach Or In the Jungle
Close to the house is a small family run horse riding business who take visitors into the jungle or along the beach. They accompany you on your first few visits and look after you and the horse. At the moment there are only three horses but they aim to expand. You can book a tour twice a day at 10.00 or 16.00 although they are flexible if you have different requirements.
Local Coconut Farms
Samui is known as the “coconut island” because of it’s large number of coconut farms and the fact that the island exports two million coconuts a month. There are many local coconut farms where you can see how they process the coconuts, make coconut oil and observe the craftsmanship of the carpenters who use the coconut wood. Sometimes these include a coconut monkey demonstrating how to get the coconuts for their handler. Often there is a shop where you can buy the raw coconut milk and coconut oils. Sometimes you can buy the scrubs, lip balms, hair oils, lotions, shampoos, conditioners, lotions, and soaps too. Talk to us and we can tell you which coconut farm is in vogue.
Monkey Show
There are many monkey shows on Samui and we can put you in touch. There is one a few minutes away by car which is very popular where the monkeys are well looked after and actually have a good social and fulfilling life. If you ever wondered how the coconuts are harvested then this is a must see as you watch the monkeys run up the trees and twist the coconuts until they fall to their handlers below. They look to be having a great time. One lovely sight in Samui is to see the monkeys coming and going from their days work on the back of trucks full of coconuts. They hang on to the rails and play surf around corners having a blast with the wind in their hair.
Snake Farm
At The Snake Farm visitors get an up-close look at many of Thailand's reptiles with daily shows where snake wranglers coax the creatures into displaying their fighting moves. A variety of snakes are used in the show, with king cobras and giant pythons being the star attractions. Centipede and scorpion shows are also held daily, in case the big snake show somehow fails to excite! The Snake Farm also features a reptile zoo where visitors are offered the chance to touch and handle some of the (more docile) snakes. Thailand is home to some 170 variety of snakes, 50 of which are venomous, so there's no shortage of fascinating creatures to see here!
Waterfalls
There are many lovely waterfalls in the south of Koh Samui and we are lucky enough to be close to all of them. There are various degrees of difficulty for the hiking to get there, from the very easy i.e. at the carpark, to the challenging. All are very rewarding and offer some great places to cool off and enjoy the jungle.
